Breast Pump Rentals
Rentals are only available at The Pump Connection office or our satellite locations. They cannot be shipped
A mother’s milk supply is largely dependent upon frequent and regular expression of milk. The rental or hospital grade breast pump is the gold standard for pumps. Rental pumps are generally the most efficient and yield the greatest volume of milk. Manual, battery, or small electric breast pumps are intended for occasional use and only after milk supply is well established. Rental/hospital grade breast pumps can cost $1,200 or more to purchase and are therefore more economical to rent.
Rental pumps are used in the following situations:
• Mothers who deliver a premature infant
• To increase a milk supply
• When direct breastfeeding is too painful
• Mothers who are separated from their infant
• Working mothers
• And a variety of other reasons
Available models for rent
Medela Symphony

Moms tell us that the Symphony breast pump is the most comfortable pump
available. The Symphony is the first breast pump with Natural Expression™,
Medela’s breakthrough two-phase pumping program that offers an initial, rapid
rhythm to promote “Let-Down” and then a slower, deeper rhythm for efficient
milk expression. It’s also whisper-quiet!
For moms’ convenience, one knob combines vacuum level and the number of cycles
per minute in the expression phase. Moms can switch between single and double
pumping simply by adding or removing the second Pump Collection Set.
Medela Classic

Medela's Classic breast pump is ideal for long-term separations between mother
and baby and for frequent pumping. The pump features physiological Autocycle™
action, which simulates a baby's natural sucking pattern. The adjustable vacuum
protects mothers from excessive or prolonged suction.
All Classic breast pumps can be used for single or double pumping with Medela's
Advanced Collection™ accessory kits. Simultaneously double pumping both breasts
cuts pumping time in half, and can help increase your milk-producing hormone.
Ameda Lact-e

Ameda’s Lact-e breast pump is invaluable for a mother who delivers a preterm
infant or is separated from her baby, needs to pump to increase her milk
supply, or pumps frequently. The automatic cycling is not only comfortable but
also very efficient. The suck-release pattern of the Lact-e breast pump closely
approximates the sucking action of a baby.
The Lact-e hospital grade breast pump comes in a portable carrying case, is
easy to use, and the exclusive patented Hygienic Kit prevents milk back-up in
the tubing. Mothers can choose between single or double pump kits.
Medela Lactina

The Lactina breast pump is lightweight and highly portable, making it a
favorite among working mothers. It’s physiological Autocycle™ pumping action is
almost identical to baby's natural sucking action. And like all Medela pumps,
the Lactina's built-in vacuum release protects you against excessive or
prolonged suction.
Lactina breast pumps can be used for single or double pumping with Medela's
Advanced Collection™ accessory kits. Simultaneously double pumping both breasts
cuts pumping time in half, and can help increase your milk-producing hormone.

Breast Pump rentals are prepaid and you are committed to that rate for the full term of that option. There is a two week minimum on all rentals.
Refunds are only honored on 6-month rental* and only after equipment has been rented for a minimum of 3 months (pro-rated at the 3-month rate). Just prior to the expiration of your rental option you will have the opportunity to extend at that current rate or select another rental rate option. A credit card number is held as a deposit.
All breast pump rentals are subject to local taxes and a $10.00 cleaning fee.
Breast pump accessory kits are not included in the price of the rental and are
necessary to use with the breast pump. If you were given a “pump kit” at the
hospital, or have one from a previous baby, bring it with you when you come to
rent the pump so that we can make sure you have all of the required pump parts.
Spare parts are available for purchase on-line or at The Pump Connection’s main
office. We offer single and double, ready to use, sterile accessory kits if you
need one.
Single kit (one breast)....... $29.95
Double kit (both breasts)... $49.50
Frequently asked breast pump rental questions
1) If I’m going to need the pump for a long duration, shouldn’t I just buy one?
Purchasing or renting a breast pump largely depends on your breastfeeding
circumstances. We highly recommend a rental quality breast pump for any mother
who delivers a premature infant, is having difficulties with breastfeeding, or
does not yet have a well-established milk supply. The rental or hospital grade
breast pump is usually mandatory for most of these “pump dependent” mothers to
establish or maintain an adequate volume of breast milk. While purchased breast
pumps (even very expensive ones) are usually inadequate in the above
situations, they are useful for mothers that have a well-established milk
supply, are nursing well, but need to miss some feedings.
2) Will my insurance company reimburse me for the rental of a breast pump?
If you are pumping because your infant is premature or ill or for some other
reason you are unable to nurse, your insurance company may reimburse you for
the rental of the breast pump. We have had good success with the proper
supportive material. Contact The Pump Connection and we will help you with all
the necessary paperwork to submit to your insurance carrier for possible
reimbursement.
3) Why are other rental breast pumps I’ve seen elsewhere not available at The
Pump Connection?
The Pump Connection’s lactation consultants handpick our breast pumps and
products. We only carry the breast pumps that we feel will preserve your milk
supply and work efficiently. Although there are other pumps on the market, we
only use those that are the most successful in expressing your precious breast
milk.
